  • Bachelor of Science (Human Biology)
  • Chiropodist/Foot Specialist

Ada graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelors of Science degree in Human Biology. She then received her Chiropody training at the Michener Institute for Applied Health Sciences in Toronto, where she underwent 3 years of practical training in podiatric medicine, biomechanics, orthotic therapy, anesthesia, nail surgery, physical therapy and podopediatrics.

Ada is a registered member with the College of Chiropodists of Ontario, member of the Canadian Federation of Podiatric Medicine, and member of Prince Edward Island Podiatry Association.

As a foot care provider, Ada believes that chiropodists can help people of all ages. In children, early detection of many foot problems such as flat feet, in or out toeing can prevent serious complications from developing later in life such as knee and lower back pain. The geriatric population can also benefit from chiropody services for treatment of painful lesions resulting from the effects of diabetes, rheumatoid or osteoarthritis and biomechanical anomalies.

Ada is excited to be part of the Form and Function team. In her spare time, she likes hiking and recently takes up baking. Ada is fluent in Cantonese and looking forward to bringing the best of foot care to you and your family.

With growing global concerns around COVID-19 (“coronavirus”), the Form & Function team wanted to provide you with an update on our response to date and our commitment to you moving forward. The health, safety and well-being of our employees and our patients at Form & Function is our top priority and we are following the lead of Canadian public health authorities at this important time. First and foremost, we want to assure our patients that we are taking all appropriate measures to ensure our clinic is safe and that we have existing plans and training protocols in place to ensure we stay that way. While the Public Health Agency of Canada has assessed the current public health risk associated with coronavirus as low, we continue to monitor for developments very closely.

We have implemented additional measures to ensure your safety as well as the safety of our team, including:

  1. We are all washing our hands and sanitizing prior to contact with each patient
  2.  All rooms are sanitized multiple times daily with an antiviral compound to kill 99.95 % of pathogens,
  3.  All towels, blankets, and face paper are replaced after every human skin contact and tables are all cleaned with an antiviral compound after each use.
  4.  All treatment room surface areas are cleaned with the viricide on the hour, every hour.
  5. If you would like our practitioner to wear gloves during your treatment that is an option to you, and please feel free to ask prior to your treatment starting.
  6. All patients with cold or flu like symptoms are encouraged to book an online session at phyxable.janeapp.com , all direct billings and programs of care can be taken care of remotely aside from massage and chiropody treatments.

To protect yourself and others, we ask that anyone who is feeling unwell refrain from visiting us so that together we can ensure a safe and comfortable experience for everyone. Again, we continue to monitor this situation closely and will provide ongoing updates as needed. We also encourage our patients to stay up-to-date through Canada’s Public Health website.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you soon.

In Western societies, stress is normalized given all of our demands. Our bodies create adaptive, protective responses to deal with this. But what does this actually mean for our health long term? Stress impacts each of our bodily systems. It can exacerbate mental health issues, cardiovascular diseases, affect our sleep, increase weight, affect our digestion, increase inflammation and pain, worsen autoimmune diseases, affect skin issues and more.

1. IDENTIFY THE SOURCE OF STRESS

By knowing what is causing you stress, you can help guide treatment. Keeping a “stress journal” is a good way to track symptoms.

2. SLEEP

Lack of sleep can increase the production of our stress hormone, Cortisol. This can further increase our sensitivity to stress and exacerbate the feelings of stress that are already present.

3. SUPPLEMENT

Nutrient deficiencies, such as iron, B-vitamins, and vitamin D can attribute to low mood and how stress affects our bodies. There are also supplements that may increase our happy hormone, Serotonin, our relaxing hormone, GABA, and our reward hormone, Dopamine. Consult Dr. Trgachef ND to see if you may benefit from these supplements.

4. EAT HEALTHY

Certain nutrients (outlined above) contained in whole grains, fruits, and vegetables aid in hormone production, reducing our perceived stress.

5. PRACTICE MINDFULNESS

Breathing techniques such as “box breathing”, and journaling can help us de-stress in the moment by being present with our bodies. Meditation smart phone applications such as “calm” can also help lower our stress response.

6. EXERCISE

Both aerobic and resistance exercise can help lower stress and anxiety by having positive effects on our autonomic nervous system.

7. ACUPUNCTURE

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, acupuncture helps with stress and anxiety by moving Qi. In Western medicine, it is speculated to help by having an effect on our nervous system. Consult with Dr. Trgachef ND to determine if you can benefit from acupuncture.

8. BOOK AN APPOINTMENT

Book an appointment with Dr. Trgachef ND to help manage your stress and prevent further long-term health implications! BOOK ONLINE.
